Federation League Match Nailsea V's Bristol

Nailsea 5 - Bristol 2

On Saturday the club's Federation League team beat Bristol at home 5-2. The conditions were very difficult with fast lawns and tricky hoop approaches. In the morning all three games were extemely close. Jim Field & Ian Telfer won the doubles by one on time (19-18). In both the singles Bristol used their handicap advantage to take the early lead but Geoff Hughes and Peter Dyke both clawed their way back into the games, Geoff winning by one on time (15-14), and in a very low scoring game Peter won by two on time (10-8) in his last turn. These close wins proved crucial, because honours were split in the afternoon. Geoff lost by five on time (8-13), Jim won by three on time (19-16), Ian lost by six on time (5-11) and David Hunt substituting for Peter, playing his first game in the Federation League won by ten on time (19-9).
