NDCC Short Croquet Report. Sunday 29 April 2007

Nailsea and District Croquet Club held their Short Croquet Competition on Sunday. There were 16 entries with a huge variation in handicap and experience. The Block winners were David Murphy, Richard Delmas and Jim Gregory with three wins each and Mary Barnes with two wins. The runners up were Peter Dyke, Kathy Wallace, Brian Roynon and Steve Walker, all with two wins. Three quarter- finals took place on the day. In these matches, Brian Roynon had an exciting game and beat last year's Short Croquet Champion, Richard Delmas by +3T. Steve Walker, winner of the 2006 Beginners Competition beat Mary Barnes +8, displaying some excellent croquet skills. Finally, there was a great battle between Peter Dyke and Jim Gregory which Peter Dyke won by +5 in his last turn. David Murphy will play Kathy Wallace to fill the last semi-finals place.

There are a few places left on the coaching courses which will begin in May. If you are interested in learning more about this fascinating sport, please ring 01275 843746 or look at the Club website, http://nailsea-croquet.org.uk/
