1st European Golf Croquet Championships 7-9th Oct 1999 at Leamington Spa, England (UK)
Ireland's Mark McInerney breezed through the Championship over the past three days, beating England's John Moore in straight sets, 7-3 7-1 7-5.
Mark's almost perfect shooting and excellent stroke play was too much for any of the other competitors and he only lost one game throughout the tournament, to recent Belgian Open winner, Peter Payne.
Ivor Brand took third spot from Andrew Hutchinson (both England), while Peter Payne was the first continental European, pushing England's Ed Dymock into 6th place. Tom Weston (England) took seventh place ahead of Scotland's Rod Williams.
