Nailsea Youngsters Play Well in Bristol Advanced Croquet Tournament

Two seventeen year olds from Nailsea Croquet Club played well at Bristol Croquet Club's Advanced Tournament over the weekend. The event was a two life knockout with a consolation Swiss for those knocked out of the main competition.

JAMES DIXON started badly on Saturday losing both his lives in the main contest, but went on to win his last game on Saturday and all four games on Sunday to finish joint winner of the consolation event with DAVID GOACHER (Bristol). JAMES completed three triple peels including one where he peeled his partner ball back through the rover hoop to peg it out.

KRISS CHAMBERS started well, winning his first two games in the knockout, but lost his next two. On Sunday he won two more games before narrowly losing his final game. He also completed three triple peels over the weekend and finished joint third in the Swiss.

Both Nailsea players gained handicap reductions, KRISS from –½ to –1 and JAMES from ½ to 0.

Results

JAMES DIXON, 5 wins out of 7 games, lost -15, -7 and won +15TP, +22TP, +25TP, +3, +7.

KRISS CHAMBERS, 4 wins out of 7, won +7, +25TP, lost -7, -13, won +15TP, +17TP, and lost -4TPO.

JAMES and KRISS have both been invited to take part in the Inter Counties Championships at Southwick at the end of the month and are trying raise enough money to cover their expences.
