Advanced Play Tournament (Cheltenham) - Sat-Sun 28-29 Aug 1999
Last weekend Nailseas 17-year old croquet star, KRISS CHAMBERS, won an Advanced Play Tournament at Cheltenham Croquet Club. He won eight games out of nine against players with handicaps ranging from minus two to plus three. His wins included a triple peel, but his best win was against a Cheltenham player with a handicap of minus two, whom he has never beaten before and who finished in second place, also with eight wins out of nine. In addition, KRISS won the prize for the player with the most triple peels because he beat the only two other players who had achieved this feat.
Results: 1st KRISS CHAMBERS, 8 wins, +4, +17, -3, +1, +7, +7, +26TP, +25, +18.
All England Handicap
Nailseas qualifier in the for the Area Final of the All England Handicap is NICK CARTER, one of last years beginners. NICK won two games out of three and beat PETER DYKE, also with two wins out of three, into second place on points. The Area Finals take place at Bristol Croquet Club, Stoke Bishop, this weekend.

Intermediate League (at Exeter) : Nailsea 3 Exeter 2 - Sunday 29th August 1999
On Sunday Nailsea and Exeter, the two bottom teams in the South West Section of the South West Federation Intermediate League met at Exeter, both teams having been soundly beaten in all their other matches this season. In the morning IAN WILSON and BERNARD WILSON won the doubles, but PAT LONG lost the singles.
With the honours even at lunch, BERNARD WILSON lost in the afternoon, and GRETA STRINGER recorded a win. Finally PAT LONG won a very long and close game. This victory means that Nailsea finish in fourth place in the league table above Exeter.
