The Coles Championship and GB v Ireland
The Coles - Kriss Wins Consolation Event
In the Coles Championship, an Advanced Play Tournament at Cheltenham, Nailsea Croquet Clubs 18 year old star, Kriss Chambers, narrowly lost in the first round to Robin Brown in this knockout event. In the best of three games the two players were one all and Kriss was all set to peg out in the deciding game when his opponent hit a 35 yard shot, took his second ball to the peg and pegged out. Robin went on to win his remaining matches until he lost to Reg Bamford in the final. Kriss dropped only one game the rest of the weekend and won the consolation event.
Great Britain v Ireland
Last month Kriss played for Great Britain against Ireland. He and his partner, former World Champion Chris Clarke, won their doubles match to help Britain to a 2-1 lead. In very difficult conditions play had to be abandoned for a while because the lawns became waterlogged Kriss lost his singles match, but Great Britain beat Ireland 5-4 overall.
