Nailsea Club Finals Weekend

There were several close and exciting games.

In the High Bisquers RICHARD DELMAS beat KATHY WALLACE by a single point.

In the One Ball Competitions DAVID MURPHY beat PETER DYKE by one point in the level play final and he beat MARCUS EVANS by two points in the handicap final.

In the Short Croquet Final MARY BARNES beat KATHY WALLACE by two points.

In a very close Open Handicap Singles semi-final DAVID MURPHY beat NICK CARTER by two points, but he was convincingly beaten by GEOFF HUGHES in the final.

Most of the Club's main finals played on Sunday afternoon were one sided, but MARCUS EVANS and PETER DYKE kept the spectators entertained. MARCUS took the early lead and attempted a sextuple peel, but broke down after successfully completed two of the six peels. This let PETER in, but he broke down at hoop six. MARCUS attempted a quadruple peel, but he broke down at 3-back having completed one more peel. PETER scored nine points with his backward ball and did a good leave. MARCUS shot and missed. After a lot of jockeying for position PETER scored three more points with his backward ball and was only one point behind. MARCUS took his forward ball to the peg. PETER had a chance to catch up but failed 4-back and MARCUS went on to win by nine points.

The weekend was finished with a very entertaining Golf Croquet Handicap Final in which MARCUS attempted six jump shots and successfully scored hoops with three of them. He went on to beat DAVID MURPHY by one point with a jump shot over DAVID's ball, which was stuck in the deciding hoop.
