Summary of 2002 Season - "Peter’s Page" - 2 October 2002
Team Successes
In the South West Federation (SWF) Leagues: -
Individual Successes
Marcus Evans : -
Marcus won both our May Handicap and June Advanced Tournaments.
He came third in the ‘A’ class at Bowdon, losing the semi-final by only four points and he gained a CA Gold Award for completing his first triple peel in a qualifying game.
He qualified for the Finals of the Golf All England Handicap Championship where was beaten in the semi-final.
He has also heard that he has won the Apps Memorial Bowl for the most improved male croquet player in the country in 2001. He will be presented with the bowl at the Croquet Association AGM at Roehampton Croquet Club on 12 October 2002.
Greta Stringer : -
Greta won a ‘B’ Class Advanced Tournament and the ‘B’ Class of the Over 50s Advanced Tournament at Cheltenham.
She was runner-up in another ‘B’ Class Tournament and the Cheltenham Club’s ‘C’ Class Competition.
The SWF Golf Croquet Championships : -
Marian Hilton won the Low Handicap Singles.
Bob Sergeant came second in the High Handicap Singles.
Peter Dyke & David Murphy won the Doubles.

The Beginners Golf Croquet, Level Play and Advanced Tournaments still have to
be completed. Please complete by the end of October. Please return trophies
for engraving before the end of October. I will try to produce certificates
for the winners and runner-up.
Association Croquet Handicap Changes so far : -

Kathy Wallace 20 to 18
Bernard Wilson 12 to 11
Ian Wilson 11 to 10.
The handicap committee meets in October so there may be further changes.

(£35) & Beryl Griffiths (£25). This year we have sold a record
38 units.
If you wish to join the subscription for the rest of the
year is £6 per unit (maximum two units). Please contact Peter Dyke for
further information and application forms. Three units will be drawn at the
Christmas Dinner.
