Grass Roots Golf Croquet Competition

A qualifying round of the Grass Roots Golf Croquet Competition was held at Nailsea Croquet Club on Saturday.

This is a National Competition for Beginners and High Handicapped Players.

Initially it is played as 7 rounds of Progressive Doubles, with the top four players playing a singles knockout.

The players who progressed to the knockout were Mark Rowland with 25 points, Brian Phelps, 22 points, Bill Lane, 21 points, and Polly Reynolds, 19 points.

In the knockout Mark beat Bill, 7-4, and Polly beat Brian, 7-2.

In the final Mark beat Polly, 7-5, and in the 3 rd/4 th place playoff Bill narrowly beat Brian, 7-6.

Mark and Polly both qualify for the Finals at Solihull on 12 September.
