Word Golf Croquet Championships
Marcus Evans came 18 th in the World Golf Croquet Championships held at Brighton and Eastbourne.
He came second in his block with 6 wins out of 7 and had a bye to the second round of the knockout. His first match in the knockout stage was against Ireland’s Mark McInerney. Marcus won the first game 7-2 and narrowly lost the second 6-7. In the deciding game Marcus came back from a 4-nil deficit to level the scores at 5-all, but Mark scored hoops 11 and 12 in one shot to win the game 7-5.
In the plate competition Marcus won two games, but lost his final game putting him in 18 th position overall.
This is a huge achievement for the 19 year-old Nailsea player.
Mark McInerney went on to finish in 4 th place.
The winner was the Egyptian, Ahmad Nasr, who beat Dennis Bullock from New Zealand in the Final.
Egyptian’s took three of the top six places.
