Most Club Competitions were completed over the weekend and the results were: -
Open Handicap Doubles block games: Geoff Hughes & Violet Delmas beat Peter Dyke & Richard Delmas +7T, Peter Dyke & Richard Delmas beat Adrienne Griffiths & Brigit Clayton +4T
Over 50s Semi-finals: Pat Long beat Norman Edmonds +4, Kathy Wallace beat Mary Barnes +19, Over 50s Final: Kathy Wallace beat Pat Long +13
LARS Plate Final: Bernard Wilson beat Peter Dyke +13
Class Level Play Final: Geoff Hughes beat Ian Telfer +16
Equal Bisques block game: Kathy Wallace beat Brigit Clayton +13
Short Croquet Final: Jim Gregory beat Greta Stringer +8
Handicap One-ball semi-final: Geoff Hughes beat Adrienne Griffiths +8
Handicap One-ball Final: Jim Gregory beat Geoff Hughes +6.
On Sunday afternoon spectators were kept entertained by two fascinating finals.
Ladies Singles - Pat Long (handicap 5) and Kathy Wallace (14) played each other for the second time over the weekend, but this time Kathy had had a handicap reduction from 16 to 14 as a result of her previous wins. Kathy used her handicap advantage to establish a 17 point lead, but in one of the best finals the club has ever seen, Pat came back from 24-7 down to win 26-24.
Open Handicap Singles Final - Greta Stringer (3) was unable to do the same against last year’s Beginners Champion, David Jones (18), and David won +15 with a bisque remaining.

August Handicap Weekend Tournament: 1. Geoff Hughes 2. Derek Stoaling ( Bath).
Unfortunately one of the finalists of the Beginners Competition was away this weekend, so that final, one Open Handicap Doubles game and two Junior Competitions have still to be completed.
